Benchasiri Park is a compact 29-acre park located on Sukhumvit Road directly next to BTS Phrom Phong station, making it the most convenient park for the large expat and tourist population living along the Sukhumvit corridor. What it lacks in size compared to Lumpini or Benjakitti, it makes up for with an impressive density of facilities and a lively community atmosphere. This is a park where things happen β€” basketball games, swimming lessons, children playing, skateboarders practicing, and office workers taking lunch breaks under the trees.

    Art and Sculptures

One of Benchasiri's most distinctive features is its collection of contemporary sculptures scattered throughout the grounds. Created by prominent Thai artists, these works range from abstract metal forms to figurative pieces and are integrated naturally into the landscape rather than displayed in a formal gallery setting. Walking through the park is like visiting an outdoor art museum, with surprises around many corners. The sculptures give Benchasiri a cultural dimension that most Bangkok parks lack.

    Sports Facilities

The park punches well above its weight in terms of recreational facilities. A public swimming pool offers lap swimming and swimming lessons at very affordable rates β€” just 30 baht for adults. Basketball courts draw regular pickup games in the evenings and on weekends. A skate park area attracts younger visitors. Exercise equipment stations line some of the paths. These facilities make Benchasiri unusually active and social compared to Bangkok's more contemplative parks.

    Playground and Family Space

A well-designed children's playground in the eastern section is one of the better public playgrounds in the Sukhumvit area. It is clean, shaded, and popular with both Thai and expat families. The playground equipment is modern and well-maintained. Surrounding lawn areas provide space for children to run and parents to relax.

    Best Time to Visit

Late afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 PM is when the park is at its most vibrant, with basketball games in progress, the pool busy with swimmers, and families arriving after school. Morning visits between 6:00 and 8:00 AM are quieter, with joggers and walkers making laps around the perimeter. The park is open until 9:00 PM and the evening hours are pleasant for a post-dinner stroll along the lit pathways.

    How to Get There

BTS Phrom Phong station exit 5 leads directly to the park entrance β€” you literally step off the train and into the park within two minutes. This makes Benchasiri the easiest park to reach by public transport in all of Bangkok. The park is surrounded by the EmQuartier and Emporium shopping malls, major hotels, and the heart of Sukhumvit's international dining scene.

    Facilities

The swimming pool has changing rooms and lockers. Public restrooms are clean and available at multiple points. The park is surrounded by restaurants and cafes in the Phrom Phong area, so food options are essentially unlimited within a five-minute walk. The paths are paved and well-maintained.

    Tips for Visitors

Visit the pool on weekday mornings for the least crowded swim β€” it gets busy with after-school lessons from 4:00 PM. If you enjoy street basketball, the evening pickup games welcome newcomers. The park makes an excellent quick green break during a day of Sukhumvit shopping β€” duck in for 20 minutes between EmQuartier and Emporium visits. Look for the sculptures deliberately β€” they are easy to walk past without noticing.

    What Makes Benchasiri Special

Benchasiri proves that a park does not need to be large to be valuable. At just 29 acres, it serves as the living room of the Phrom Phong neighborhood β€” a space where the area's diverse population of Thai families, Japanese expats, Western residents, and tourists naturally gathers. The combination of art, sports facilities, playground, and prime location creates a park that is visited not for escaping the city but for being part of it. If you live along Sukhumvit, Benchasiri is the park you visit three times a week without thinking about it.
