Weather, festivals, what to pack and what to skip in November
November is one of the year's two best months to visit Bangkok (alongside late December). Rain has all but vanished — average just 6 rainy days — and the humidity has dropped into the comfortable low 70s. Daytime temperatures of 32 °C are still warm but the nights cool to a genuinely pleasant 23 °C, and the early mornings have a crisp quality you won't find again until next December. The cultural calendar peaks with Loy Krathong, the lantern-and-water festival held on the full moon (variable date, usually mid-to-late November) — Bangkok's most romantic event of the year.
Crowds rise sharply as the year's high season begins, and hotel rates jump 30–40% from October's shoulder pricing. However, the first half of November is still excellent value compared to December–February peaks. November is also peak month for outdoor festivals: the Bangkok Marathon, River Festival along Chao Phraya, Wonderfruit pre-events, and a number of food festivals at outdoor venues. Sky-bar visits, boat tours, and cycling Bang Krachao return to top form.
