Benjakitti Park is Bangkok's most impressive modern urban park, a beautifully designed green space that was dramatically expanded and reimagined in 2022 with the addition of an elevated skywalk that soars through a forest canopy above a scenic lake. The park connects to Lumpini Park via an elevated walkway, creating a continuous green corridor through the heart of Bangkok's business district. ## The Skywalk The crown jewel is the 1.3-kilometer elevated skywalk that loops through the park's mature trees at canopy level, offering a unique perspective of the lake, gardens, and Bangkok skyline. The gently curving pathway is wheelchair accessible and includes rest areas with benches shaded by the surrounding foliage. Walking among the treetops while skyscrapers rise in the background creates a surreal juxtaposition of nature and city. ## Park Features The park's central lake hosts fountains and is surrounded by wide promenades perfect for walking and jogging. A wetland garden showcases native aquatic plants and attracts birds. Children's playgrounds, outdoor fitness stations, and open lawns for picnics are scattered throughout. The park was built on the former grounds of the Thailand Tobacco Monopoly, and some industrial heritage elements have been incorporated into the landscape design. ## Flora and Wildlife The park features extensive plantings of native Thai trees and flowers. Lotus ponds, rain gardens, and wetland areas support biodiversity in the urban environment. Look for herons, kingfishers, and various species of dragonflies. The tree canopy along the skywalk includes mature rain trees, tamarind, and various tropical species. ## Best Time to Visit Early morning from 5:30 to 7:00 is perfect for joggers and photographers catching the sunrise behind the skyline. Late afternoon from 16:30 to 18:30 offers golden light and pleasant temperatures. The skywalk is particularly beautiful at dusk when the city lights begin to twinkle. ## How to Get There The main entrance is near MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre station. BTS Asok station is about a 10-minute walk. The elevated walkway from Lumpini Park offers a scenic pedestrian route connecting the two parks. ## Nearby Attractions Lumpini Park is connected via the elevated walkway. The Emporium and EmQuartier shopping malls on Sukhumvit Road are within walking distance. The Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre hosts regular exhibitions and events. Khlong Toei Market, Bangkok's biggest wet market, is a short walk south.
